Torremolinos
is a
tourism-oriented city and municipality on Spains Costa del Sol,
12kms to the west of the city of Málaga, in
the
province of Málaga and the autonomous region of Andalucia in southern
Spain.
Coordinates: 36°37'N, 4°30'W. Population 52.354.
A
poor fishing village before the
growth in tourism beginning in
the late 1950s, Torremolinos was the first of the Costa del Sol resorts
to develop, and due to it's proximity to Malaga airport, it's famous
beaches and favourable climate, is still very popular with British
tourists and has a large

Torremolinos can be loosely defined as consisting of three distinct
areas, namely the town
centre, the various beaches,
and the old town, known as El Calvario.
