Torremolinos
is famous
above all for it's miles of sandy beaches, offering sun-worshipers the
opportunity to soak up the rays. There are also many other
recreational activities
available in and around Torremolinos to keep the whole family
entertained. For more ideas of what to do in Torremolinos, have a look

The main beaches of Torremolinos are:
Bajondillo -
found at the bottom of the steps leading down from C/San Miguel in the
town centre. Can get very crowded during the summer months.
Playamar & Los Alamos
- to the east, or left as you as you reach the beach from the C/San
Miguel steps. The further you go, the less crowded it becomes. Beyond
Los Alamos towards the airport is a nudist beach,
mainly frequented by the gay community.
La Carihuela & Montemar
- to the west, or right as you reach the beach from C/San Miguel. These
popular beaches can be reached by walking around the headland. La
Carihuela is particularly famous for it's many
chiringuitos,
or beach
bars, specialising in fried sardines and other fresh seafood. No visit
to Torremolinos is complete without a visit to one of these
establishments.

A
pedestrian foot path connects all the beaches of Torremolinos, covering
approximately 9 kms from Los Alamos to the Marina at Benalmadena, just
beyond Montemar beach.
All
the beaches offer sun loungers and parasols for hire, showers &
public toilets (during the summer months) and a variety of sporting
activities.

Hiking:
The mountains and countryside behind Torremolinos offer an opportunity
to escape from the hubub of the coast and get a completely different
perspective of Torremolinos and the surrounding areas. There are
several hiking trails, and it is possible for example to hike from
Torremolinos to the cable car station above Arroyo de la Miel. The
nearest starting point to Torremolinos town centre can be found in the
woods behind Aqualand (the area is known as Los Manantiales).
Unfortunately, the paths are not well signposted. The going can be
quite steep and rugged, so sturdy footwear is essential, as well as
plenty of water and sun protection.
