Torremolinos
provides
ample opportunities for retail therapy, ranging from stylish designer
boutiques to large supermarkets & hypermarkets, souvenir shops,
markets and just about anything else you may be looking for.
Avenida
Palma de Mallorca
is the main road through the town centre, and here you can find
clothing chain stores such as Springfield & Cortefiel, plus a
host
of other retail outlets. Most of the major
banks
are also to be found on this main thoroughfare. The Centro Comercial
San Miguel also has it's main entrance on Avenida Palma de Mallorca.
Open from 10am to 10 pm, it is home to an Eroski supermarket, as well
as several other shops. There is a self service launderette here too.
The centre has public parking with it's entrance on Avda Isabel Manoja.
**Check this out!** Just a few yards from the car park entrance, there is a new English bookshop:
The Book Point
Avd.Isabel Manoja,10
Edif.San Enrique
Local 42 de
Torremolinos
afranks@thebookpointspain.com Leading off Avda Palma de Mallorca and heading towards the beach you
will find the famous
Calle San
Miguel.
This is one of the most popular shopping streets in Torremolinos, if
not the Costa del Sol! Being pedestrianised, it gives shoppers a
perfect ambience to browse in the many and varied shops. Clothing,
shoes, perfumes, tobacco, souvenirs and more are all here. There's an
excellent second hand English bookshop, and there are plenty of
watering holes along the way to keep you going! At the end of Calle San
Miguel you will find the steps which lead down to the beach.

The
beach areas are lined with the usual kind of shops selling souvenirs,
swim wear and beach towels etc. The pedestrian street one line back
from the beach at
La
Carihuela,
however, offers a slightly more sophisticated atmosphere, and has many
fine clothing and shoe shops, and especially leather items.
The
weekly
Torremolinos
market
is held every Thursday at the Feria ground, which is located in the old
part of Torremolinos, El Calvario. In the same place on Sunday mornings
there is a popular flea market. Just follow the crowds heading
up
Calle Europa, past the town hall and across the main road at the top of
the town.
This main road is the bypass carrying traffic between Malaga and
Benalmadena. Towards Benalmadena on this road is the new
Carrefour
store, a huge hypermarket selling everything from foodstuffs to
electrical appliances. Ample free parking is available, and it can also
be easily reached on foot from the El Pinillo station.
Just behind Carrefour is the
El
Pinillo industrial estate.
This is the place to head to if you are a property owner in need of
some
home maintenance
or improvements. You can find electrical and
plumbing supplies, an excellent hardware store, building materials and
more. Everything for the DIY enthusiast!
All the major
supermarkets
can be found at various convenient locations around Torremolinos.
Particularly useful are the Opencor stores (Avda. Joan Miro in the
centre & Avda San Francisco in Calvario) which are open from
08:00
- 02:00, 365 days a year. LIDL & ALDI supermarkets are located
on
the outskirts of town going towards Malaga.
Slightly further afield, on the way to Malaga, you will find
Plaza Mayor,
a large leisure centre with many shops. There is a train station here,
making it very easily accessible from Torremolinos. The same station
serves the new
IKEA
store as well, which is proving very popular with locals. Also on the
road to Malaga is
Bauhaus,
a huge DIY store similar to B&Q.
